2024 Electric Chevrolet Blazer with Eclectic Versions

While announcements of electric vehicles have been multiplying lately, today it’s time for the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV to be revealed! Freshly disclosed on July 18 in California, this mid-size SUV promises to be a great vehicle.

Find out more about its platform, performance, design and technology.

Blazer EV: Based on the Ultium Platform

This new platform specially designed by GM for electric vehicles will naturally be the one used for the Blazer EV.

It’s a flexible architecture that allows to optimize the performance and range of electric cars of all classes. Ultium Charge 360 will also simplify the charging experience for drivers.

The release date for the electric Blazer is announced for the summer of 2023, at least for the first versions. Four trims have been announced:

  • 1LT
  • 2LT
  • RS
  • SS

The 2LT and RS will first make their appearance, followed by the high-performance SS (Super Sport) later in 2023. As for the standard 1LT, it will be available in 2024.

Chevrolet even plans to offer the electric experience to police officers with a PPV variant!

Electric Blazer: Powered-Up Performance and 3-wheel Configurations

Although all the technical specifications of this new electric SUV are yet unknown, GM did reveal some figures.

The SS models are well-known for their superior performance, and this one is no exception! The electric SS version will develop 557 horsepower and an impressive 648 lb-ft of torque.

Anyone who has already driven an electric vehicle knows the feeling of instantaneous, sharp acceleration when you step on the pedal. With this model, it’s far from being just a feeling: it can speed up from 0-100 km/h in under 4 seconds!

It comes with an all-wheel drive for optimal stability on all surfaces. However, anything is possible with the new Blazer: you can also get front-wheel drive or even rear-wheel drive.

The latter is included on the RS version, which is also designed for sporty driving but is more affordable than the SS. However, according to the figures we have, the RS version will offer the longest range. In fact, this configuration will be able to travel up to 515 km on a single charge.

The electric vehicles will come standard with 11 kW charger, but will also be able to refuel completely with 190 kW fast charge. With the latter, the Blazer from Chevrolet will be able to regain 125 km of autonomy per 10-minute period!

In short, here is what we know about the technical data:

Design: An Upgraded Blazer

On the outside, the Chevrolet car styling was already significantly popular with consumers, and Chevrolet isn’t reinventing the wheel. Its features are still familiar, even though they show a little more character. The shape of the headlights has been changed and they are connected by a light strip, comparable to other electric vehicles like the Silverado.

Each version is quite distinct: we get a monochrome style with the LT trims or a sportier one with the RS trim, which adds 21-inch wheels to the package.

On the SS trim, the wheels are increased to 22 inches and the vehicle displays a two-tone paint job with a black roof and an imitation black grille. Regardless of the version, the new platform lowers the center of gravity, optimizing both driving and style.

As for the interior, journalist Sylvain Raymond for RPM describes it:

The interior benefits from a fine attention to detail, the designers used soft materials in many places, which enhances the look of the cabin.”

Consequently, we have a quality cabin. Of course, the SS trim adds a layer with suede trim, an Adrenaline Red color and a full option package including:

  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Heated rear seats
  • A flat-bottom steering wheel

Chevy Blazer: Technology on Big Screen

For its Blazer, Chevrolet doesn’t take half-measures: the central touch screen is estimated no less than 17.7 inches! It allows you to interact with your infotainment technologies and other features. The system also makes it easy to find charging stations with the MyChevy app.

The instrumentation is also digitalized, displayed in an 11-inch screen. In addition to the driver assistance technologies, the Super Cruise hands-free driving system is optional.
