The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV and the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV: An Electrifying Duo
The Chevrolet Bolt became the first affordable consumer vehicle to offer a 400 km range when it was first introduced in 2017, even coming ahead of the Tesla Model 3.
This model has since been a hit and anyone who has purchased one has been tremendously pleased. And how could they not be? With its convenient size, riveting level of performance, freedom of electric range, and exceptional comfort to boot, there is so much to love about the Chevrolet Bolt EV.
But the fun doesn’t stop there. A few weeks ago, Chevrolet introduced the next generation model along with its slightly larger utility version, the Bolt EUV. We can therefore expect not one but two distinct Bolt models in 2022, each one setting out to meet specific sets of needs.
CA, located in Montreal near Repentigny and Laval, showcases both of these electrical vehicle models. Christin holds an inventory of new Chevrolet Buick GMC vehicles along with previously owned vehicles. Want to purchase or lease a new Chevrolet? You’ll find just what you need at your CA dealership located right here in Montreal.
Similar Style, but Different Overall
At first glance, both vehicles seem to be wearing the same outfit. However, despite the resemblance, they do not share any of the same exterior panels.
How to Tell Them Apart
The first hint can be seen on the roof. The 2022 Bolt EUV comes with roof rails for mounting equipment. This feature alone is enough to differentiate both models from one another. However, other details make the differences rather obvious. For instance, the headlight design on the 2022 Bolt EV connects the lower part of the bumper to the mirrors (a black strip is visible). This is not found on the Bolt EUV as each aforementioned feature is separated from the others. Furthermore, a final detail really sets these vehicles apart: The Bolt EV’s beltline rises significantly at the rear, whereas this stylistic detail is much less apparent in the Bolt EUV.
The Bolt EUV also has a more massive and imposing stature. However, both models must be viewed side by side to really tell the difference.
Features
The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV ranks above the 2022 Bolt EV on the hierarchy of Chevrolet’s product line. As such, it offers a few more standard features than the Bolt EV. For instance, while the Bolt EV comes equipped with standard cruise control, the Bolt EUV can come equipped with the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system as an extra option. With this version, it is also possible to wirelessly connect to the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto applications.
Another interesting feature that the Bolt EUV also comes with is its double function charging cable. This makes it not only possible to connect to a 120V power outlet as is always the case, it also makes connecting to a 240V outlet a reality. This means that a level 2 charging station is unnecessary if a 240V outlet is available.
Compelling Powertrain
The electric motor found in the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV and 2022 Bolt EUV duo consists of a permanent magnet electric motor, with the latter model offering the equivalent of 201 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. And since power delivery is instantaneous, you can expect the acceleration to be truly exhilarating.
Moreover, what makes these vehicles so attractive is their overall electric range. We’re talking a 417 km range for the Bolt EV and 397 km for the Bolt EUV version, which equates to worry-free mobility!
Depending on the model, between 154 and 160 km of electric range are expected to be gained in only 30 minutes with DC fast charging.
The Price
The beauty of it all is the price range. Chevrolet has in fact opted to chop down the price on these second-generation vehicles, so much so that the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV enters the market at $38,198 while the utility version comes in at $40,198. The $13,000 rebate that can be applied towards the purchase of an electric vehicle (taxes must be added prior to applying rebates) makes it all the more appealing. Don’t wait to stop by CA to get the best prices on these two models well worth discovering.
