Chevrolet Corvette Z06: Can' t Wait for Next Summer!
At the end of last October, the Z06 version of the Chevrolet Corvette was unveiled. We had heard about the model and what it had in store for us, except that now we know exactly what the Z06 looks like and what it will offer us. All we can say is that we can't wait for next summer, we can't wait!
In the meantime, to find the best car, the best truck, the best compact SUV or simply for an oil change in Montreal, there's only one address: Christin Automobile. Near Repentigny and Laval, Christin Automobile invites you to find an inventory of new Chevrolet Buick GMC vehicles and used models as well. To buy or lease, you'll find everything at your dealership in the east of Montreal.
Let's take a look at what's in store for this Chevrolet Corvette Z06, which promises to be the best performing car in history, in every respect.
A More Powerful and Unique Engine
The new Corvette, as you know, benefits from a mid-engine configuration. This gives it extraordinary balance and makes it the most roadworthy version in history. Adding an even crazier engine to the mix takes performance to a whole new level: race car level, in fact. Indeed, the block that sits at the centre of this Z06 version is directly inspired by motor racing.
While the regular version is equipped with a 6.2-liter V8, the Z06 will benefit from a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8 engine. The configuration of the latter, which has a flat crankshaft, transforms its behaviour. In concrete terms, this mechanical approach allows for higher revs.
At the top of its authorized rpm, the V8 will spin at 8,600 rpm and emit a music that gives you chills. As for the power output, it amounts to 670 horsepower; that promises! Torque is estimated at 460 lb-ft. An eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission will be used to manage all of this, which is an improved version over the base model.
All this will translate into a 0-100 km/h time of only 2.6 seconds. It's a good thing the tight-fitting seats are there to hold us back, because the thrust promises to be mind-blowing.
Aerodynamics and Carbon Fibre
When it comes to maximizing performance, two major elements are essential besides the mechanical parts: the aerodynamics of the model, as well as the reduction of its weight.
Thus, the Corvette Z06 can be delivered with two aerodynamic packages, one of which (Z07) focuses on pure performance. Among other things, the body has been designed with larger openings in the bumper to better supply the cooling systems for the engine, transmission, and brakes. In addition, the model will feature optional carbon fibre wheels and carbon ceramic brakes.
Mechanical Characteristics
The Corvette Z06's chassis has been completely redesigned and improved to maximize performance. For example, the General Motors flagship’s Magnetic Ride adaptive suspension is included. The brakes are larger, including 14.6-inch rotors in the front, 15.0-inch in the rear. The mechanical configuration includes a dry sump lubrication system, as found in race cars. The induction and exhaust systems have been tuned by a goldsmith for ultimate precision. As for the brakes, they bear the Brembo signature and feature six-piston calipers. One last important detail: the Corvette Z06 will be fitted with even more massive tires, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S.
Yes, the Z06 Will Seem Wider... Because It Is!
Production of the Corvette Z06 will begin next summer. Did we tell you we can't wait? Your Chevrolet dealer Christin Automobile certainly can't!
